Before anyone steps in front of the camera, we need to create a plan for what we want the photoshoot to look like. Moodboards set the direction for the location, styling, lighting and overall feel, while the shot list maps out everything we need to capture. This helps make sure the team is aligned before the first shot. 

Setting The Scene

Once shoot day arrives, the plan comes to life. The team moves between styling outfits, arranging props and adjusting products as are tweaked throughout the day to get each shot just right. A small change to a strap, pocket or position can make all the difference.

Keeping The Day On Track

With so much happening across a shoot day, having a clear run sheet helps keep everyone on the same page. It maps out the schedule, who is involved and what needs to be captured throughout the day, from product photography and flat lays to collection imagery. It also gives the team a checklist to work through as we go, making sure we capture everything we need while leaving room to adjust, experiment and capture something unexpected along the way.Here’s a look at what a typical Ela & Earth shoot day looks like behind the scenes:

A photoshoot is a team effort, with everyone bringing a different role and perspective to the day. While you might only see the final image, there’s a whole team working behind the scenes to make it happen. 

From Behind The Scenes To The Final Image

Once the shoot wraps, the process doesn’t stop there. With hundreds of images captured throughout the day, the team works through the shots to select the strongest imagery and make sure we have everything needed across each product and collection.

The selected images are then edited, retouching lighting, colour and composition while keeping the products looking true to life. From there, the final imagery is ready to be used across Ela & Earth’s website and product pages to EDMs, social media, paid advertising and campaign content.

From the first moodboard to the final edit, every Ela & Earth photoshoot is the result of a full team, a carefully planned day and plenty of little moments behind the scenes.
